Blindness is a significant health issue in Somalia, with over 150,000 blind individuals and 23% of adults over 50 experiencing low vision. Cataract and glaucoma are the highest leading causes, compounded by a lack of trained specialists and equipment. The project aims to restore sight to 800 people by providing free screenings, 800 cataract surgeries, and postoperative support. Additionally, Islamic Relief will train local healthcare workers in eye care and conduct school eye screenings for primary and intermediate students.
